It's so funny that it used to drive my Mom and I crazy when we saw people kiss babies on the lips. We thought it was odd and felt that they should only be kissed on the check.
I wonder now if we instinctively knew something as a report just came out that Moms can actually pass along cavities to their babies by kissing them on the mouth.
An article on MSNBC, reported that studies have shown that cavity-causing bacteria can pass from person to person through the transfer of saliva.
The primary culprit is Streptococcus mutans, a bacteria that can pass from person to person through the transfer of saliva, such as sharing utensils, blowing on food, and kissing.
However a parent must have active tooth decay in order to pass it along.
So, tell everyone you know to just kiss that sweet baby on the cheek.
