Instead of focusing on the losing weight, this year we can all focus on eating better. And it probably won't be a coincidence that by eating better we will in fact lose weight.
Here are some of the good foods that you can start bringing into your diet.
Recommendation by Katherine Tallmadge, of the American Dietetic Association ( read full article on CNN):
Grains
Oat
Barley
Rye
A study done in Finland found that men who had borderline high cholesterol could lower their numbers by eating dense rye bread.
Fish
Salmon
Mackerel
Sardines
Herring
Tuna
Trout
Anchovies
These fish are a good source of those famous omega-3 fatty acids that your neighbor is always telling you about. These acids keep the brain and heart healthy. There is also Vitamin D in these foods.
Green Tea
Chock full of antioxidants a recent study in Japan found that women with certain stages of breast cancer ( I and II) who drank more green tea before and after surgery had a lower chance of the cancer recurring. Other studies from China showed that the more green tea patients drank, the lower their risk of developing stomach, esophageal, prostate, pancreatic and colorectal cancer, compared with those who did not drink green tea.
