The Healing Power of the Sun
I can never get over how every time I read about a healthy behavior, I feel I've heard it somewhere before. Either it's something my grandmother has said or something that deep in my soul, I know to be true.
But when I see a study about it, somehow I pay more attention.
Here's a perfect example. Taking a daily 10-15 minute walk in the sun relieves stress, increases circulation and also can cut the risk of breast cancer by 30-40% according to a study by epidemiologist Esther John at the Northern California Cancer Center. (Source: NewsTarget.com)
Sunlight stimulates the production of Vitamin D3, which is a type of hormone that improves the immune system. It is also known to inhibit the growth of cancer cells.
In his book the Healing Sun, Dr. Richard Hobday, says that our fear of sun exposure has done more harm than good.
So we need to get back out in the sun. As it so happens, the sun is making a rare appearance here in Cleveland, Ohio and I'm racing out to get my 15 minutes!
