A Natural Antibiotic That is 5,000 Years Old

Although scientists have proven the medicinal value of Chicken Soup, I prefer the 5000 year family history. My family --which uses the Jewish calendar and so we are at 5770 (as opposed to 2009) -- has been serving chicken soup to treat many ailments since we started keeping track of time.

The medicinal secret of this treasured soup is its anti-biotic component which comes from the cooking of the chicken and the addition of garlic. For my soup I use at least 8 cloves of garlic and I can promise you that no one in my family smells like garlic.

When you make the soup however be sure to cut the garlic and let it sit for 10 minutes before adding it to the soup.

And here's my family secret on how best to use chicken soup to stay healthy. From October ( sometimes Sept.) until April we eat a cup of soup per day. So we are getting a daily dose of natural antibiotics and are able to fight off whatever is coming around. I think the germs retreat in the face of that much garlic.

The concept of prevention is the key to holistic health in that you give the body what it needs to fight off whatever is around. Our bodies have an amazing ability to protect themselves but they need the right tools and good nutrition is at the top of the list.
