Can Flowers Make Us Healthy?
While flowers tend to uplift our souls, they can also heal the emotional imbalances we all face.
Bach flower remedies are the liquids formed when flowers are immersed in water. One method the Bach Center uses to collect these liquids is to float the flowerheads in a clear glass bowl filled with natural spring water. This is left in bright sunlight for three hours, then the flowerheads are removed and the energized water is mixed half and half with brandy.
These tinctures were found to have a positive effective on our emotional states and the Bach Flower Remedy system consists of 38 flower remedies. In the word of Dr. Edward Bach, "Health depends on being in harmony with our souls."
When I first went to pick up the most popular of the remedies, called Rescue Remedy, the sales person asked if my dog was going to be in a dog show. She had never met my dog as a dog show was not even a remote possibility, but I wondered about her question. Turns out that there was a dog shown in town and everyone was coming to the store to pick up Rescue Remedies for their dogs as it calmed them down prior to their performance.
So if it’s good enough for the dogs it’s good enough for my family. Seriously though the best use of this remedy is to treat immediate stress. For example before I go to the dentist I use it to calm me down. My children have used it for tests or general stress and our family has even used in such sad times as funerals.
It's so popular today that you can even get it in spray form and many of us just carry it around with us -- just in case.
