Joyful Day

Walking to work today I was thinking how lucky I am to live in a time that has such possibility. I was carrying an envelope that contained a business idea, that when implemented (I’m very optimistic) will pay for my son's entire college education. And I thought, how great! Isn't it amazing that we have the ability to create something where there was nothing and it's really just up to our efforts to see it through?

So I thought, why not carry this through the day. Why not look at every person I see or everyone I talk to as having the same capability and instead of judging people see inside to their creative nature. For example, when someone was walking too slowly in front of me as I was trying to get onto the elevator I said to myself, maybe he is just formulating a new business in his head and can't move too quickly.

I remembered when my friend Emily, who had worked in public TV in New York City a few years ago, helped produced a segment that focused on immigrant cab drivers who overcame unbelievable circumstances to get to this country and were now building businesses for themselves.

It's funny that just by altering your perception you can find joy, an energy that our minds and bodies need to create health.
