Feng Shui Your Stress Away
Feng Shui is a 2,000-year-old Chinese tradition that directs energy or chi through a location -- home, office, airport--- to create a peaceful environment.
It's gotten so popular it's now a verb. I'm going to feng shui my bedroom a friend recently told me. My kids know that after they say goodnight to me in my bedroom they have to make sure that the bathroom door is closed. Good feng shui practices dictate that the bathroom must be closed off from the rest of the room. My kids think this is normal.
Seems the rest of the world would agree -- even large companies such as Sony, Shell, Coca-Cola and Procter & Gamble follow these principles to help keep employees and create harmony within their companies.
A good book to quickly incorporate Feng Shui practices in your home is 10 Minute Feng Shui Room By Room, by Skye Alexander. Take the kitchen for example, a place you especially want peace while you are eating. You should use the color green in decorating your kitchen to promote good health. Bring a citrus smell into the kitchen as lemon, lime, orange and grapefruit aromas stimulate and refresh the mind. And remember to tie a red ribbon around your faucet for good luck. Red is a lucky color in the Chinese tradition and can attract good fortune.
